San Francisco

San Francisco was our 2nd stop.
We stayed on the corner of Union Square, our hotel was small but clean and had all the stuff we needed.
I liked Pier 39, the Golden Gate Bridge and especially Sausalito. The views going cross the bridge were so gorgeous, it was totally worth having the wind blow directly into my face. I didn't manage to take any good pictures since we were on a the bridge in a moving bus but this was the view, with some fog added in.
The combination of hating Union Square and the surrounding areas & the huge amount of (sometimes scary) homeless people really played a big part in my not really loving the San Francisco.
So it was nice to visit, but I don't really have the need to go there again.

  • This is a VERY unpopular opinion but I thought the much-hyped about Clam Chowder at Boudin was really boring.
  • Don't let the sun fool you, it was absolutely freezing!
  • Since we were there for only a few days we got 48hour tickets to a tour bus and used that to get to all the places we wanted to see.
  • We used this tour bus, it was a 2 day pass, and it's the only open top bus which is handy for photos.
  • That tour bus has a connecting mini-bus that takes you across the bridge to Sausalito with your 1 or 2 day ticket.
  • Bring extra layers when going to the Golden Gate Bridge, it's extra cold there.
  • Hills. Everywhere. Make sure you have comfy shoes on.

    1. I used the Canon PowerShot S110. We bought it for video but it ended up being a really good camera and we used it over the SLR because it was a lot more convenient.
